HS2 Extended Working Hours to 31 March 2026

HS2 Extended Working Hours to 31 March 2026

HS2's permitted additional working hours will include weekday night working, from 7am on Mondays to midnight on Fridays and at weekends from 7am to 6pm. From 1 November 2025 to 31 March 2026. This is subject to local authority consents and approvals and ongoing review.

HS2 Banbury Lane Closures November and December 2025 (as amended I November)

HS2 are continuing to work on the Lower Thorpe viaduct above Banbury Lane which will require short-term road closures of Banbury Lane through Lower Thorpe on the following dates (as amended 31 October 2025).:

The current dates are:

  • Monday 3 November to Wednesday 5 November
  • Monday 24 November to Tuesday 25 November
  • Wednesday 10 December to Friday 19 Decembe

Additional closures are planned but may change...

New Booking System For Visiting Household Waste & Recycling Centres

A booking system is being introduced at West Northants Council's (WNC) Household Waste and Recycling Centres in November.

Speeding Vehicles - Police Action

Northamptonshire Police placed monitors in the village measuring both the speed and volume of traffic following concerns expressed by the parish council. This confirmed a significant number of vehicles exceeding the 30mph limit. There has been resultant police attendance in the village using a radar gun.

Lower Thorpe Viaduct Beam Installed

Lower Thorpe Viaduct Beam Installed

The HS2 viaduct steel beam has been installed over Banbury Lane in Lower Thorpe.
This gives an indication of the viaduct's enormity bearing in mind concrete decking with a 3m overhang will be placed on the beams to facilitate both the track laying and a 1.85m high parapet, leaving most of the steel beam exposed.

Banbury Road Two-Year Closure

Banbury Road Two-Year Closure

As previously forewarned, HS2 have announced that Banbury Road between the Magpie junction and Bulls Lane will be closed for approximately two years from 12 May 2025. The Greatworth Temporary Road will form part of the diversion route.
