Fish Van

Some parishioners have had a worrying experience with a trader recently selling fish from a van in the village. Please be wary when buying from travelling traders who are not locally established businesses, noting the vehicle registration number and any other particulars should there be need for complaint.

Church services

Christmas church services were well attended. 85 attended the Christmas Eve carol service and 28 attended Holy Communion on Christmas Day.

Village Sewer Problems

There has been a blockage in the village's main sewer from a build up of fat. This follows two previous blockages within the last year when wet wipes were a prime cause. Villagers are requested to be careful what is both flushed and washed away, particularly not disposing fat and wet wipes this way. There have been overflows in landowners' fields and a garden. Churchyard

Churchyard

Work has been completed on demolishing two churchyard walls and re-use of the stone to form boundary walls for the new extension.
The ground has been levelled. Surface stone and scrub have been cleared away. It is proposed to undertake further levelling with more topsoil and finally create a widflower area until the land is brought into use.

Church repairs

Church repairs

Various roof repairs have been undertaken at the church following the successful appeal. The porch has bee re-roofed and daylight on the rafters highlighted numbered timbers and the the initials 'SW 1738' on two rafters which remain being still in good condition.

Consecration of the churchyard extension

Consecration of the churchyard extension

Forty people attended the consecration of the churchyard extension by Bishop John on 11 April 2017. Application was then made for formal diocesan permission for a new boundary wall and gate.
