Lower Thorpe Farmhouse

HS2 has recently completed the demolition of the Grade II listed Lower Thorpe Farmhouse.
The east wing of the farmhouse housed a disused, internal waterwheel, barely visible from the exterior and not visible from the interior. The adjacent photograph shows the wheel in its demolished state. The wheel's extended spindle emerged through a wall into the end room to drive machinery operated by a belt system.
One condition for the farmhouse's demolition was the requirement for a detailed record of the building. Hopefully this will be made available for public viewing.
