Planting of the Coronation Oak Tree
A young oak tree to mark the coronation was planted on the northern border of the parish by three parish councillors on 14 December. The tree was kindly donated by the HS2 contractor EKFB.
Its siting marks the place where a Wellington bomber aircraft from the RAF's wartime Operational Training Unit at Chipping Warden airfield crashed on 20 October 1943, clipping a beech tree with the loss of five lives. The beech tree was felled by a storm in 2012.
