Sigma Sports Cobbler Classic Cycle Event

Notification has been received of a non-competitive cycle ride going through our village (northwards towards Culworth) on Saturday 19 October. There will be no road closure although an estimated 350 riders are expected between 11.50am and 3.20pm - riders having started in small groups.

Community Bus Service

Community Bus Service

The parish council is pleased to advise that a weekly bus service to Banbury is now in operation. The Thursday service is provided by Ability Northants cic. (South Northants Council has provided a grant to the parish council to help fund the start of the service.)

HS2 Update

HS2 has recently advised that work on the Lower Thorpe and Edgcote viaducts is scheduled to commence in mid-2020. The work on the Banbury Road over-bridge is scheduled to start "in 2020" (between Bulls Lane and the Magpie). However work on the Greatworth tunnel is scheduled to start in 2019. The tunnel will emerge near to where the model flying club currently operates.

Church Services

Church services were well attended at Christmas: 85 attended the the carol service on Christmas Eve and there were 40 at the Christmas Day Holy Communion service.

Village Hall Coffee and Soup Morning

The coffee and soup morning in the Village Hall on 24 November raised £325 for the hall's funds.
The trustees would like to express their gratitude to all who supported the event. Special thanks are due to those who organised, donated cakes & raffle prizes or helped with running the stalls.

British Legion Collection

Mike Pringle has advised that the village total for the recent poppy sales amounted to £252.49 which is just £2 short of last year's figure. Thanks are expressed by Mike and the British Legion.

Remembrance

Remembrance

The special Remembrance Service on 18 November was pleasingly attended by 43 people. The congregation included the '11 year old boy' who saw the descent of the Wellington bomber on the parish boundary in 1943 and our church Patron, David Humfrey. Two of David's uncles were among the five parishioners who lost their lives in WW1.
